It was a local non-profit group of low-paid journalists who kept on the Brett Farve story for years before it broke nationally. In the coming months, he and a bunch of people who use to run Mississippi are likely going to be indicted on Federal Medicaid fraud charges. It probably never would have happened if it weren't for them.

Seriously. If I've eaten nothing all day and I decide to hate myself and eat Taco Bell, it's like $11 for a 5 layer burrito, chicken quesarito and cheesy gordita crunch. For $28, you can order like one of everything on the menu.

whenever I text my wife for her order as I'm driving home, suggesting I buy something tasty like thai, vegan burgers (we have an amazing joint in my neighborhood) or what-not, I get her TB order. Shes a cheap date....but I always feel robbed and yet I go with it every single time

Ha. I picked up that taco bell for myself as I drove home from the grocery store -- where I had just picked up the ingredients to make tofu pad thai for dinner tonight. Seems like I might get along with you and your wife.

when i was in my first post-college job, i would get off work at like 1 am and drive 30-45 min to get home. My roommate was always drunk at his recording studio (long story) so he would ask me to pick him up and take him to taco bell. eventually he got to where sometimes he would just give me $20 when i left for work so i could get the TB for him on the way in, pick him up, and he could have access to it before we got home. $20 bucks (i know, inflation, etc) bought a disgusting amount of taco bell.

You weren't just buying him $10 worth and pocketing the rest?

Apparently after receiving critcism for letting Mike Lee write a biography of Mike Lee disguised as an opinion piece they updated the story...to remove Mike Lee's name from the byline.

Edit: I see they had both candidates write something to tell people why they deserve their vote, though McMullin is still listed on his story's byline (https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/commenta ... dependent/), less concerning. I'll just have to settle for rolling my eyes at the 3rd person voice.

I don't know where else to put this, but I'm now the editor of my small-town newspaper instead of just doing sports stuff, and that means dealing with the yahoos that write letters to the editor. I made one recent writer edit her letter about a Michigan ballot proposal that would make voting easier to remove a reference to the Dinesh D'Souza film 2000 Mules because the claims it made were widely debunked by reputable sources like the AP. (I didn't do this because I'm a bleeding-heart liberal but because our newspaper, you know, has a policy about not running material with false claims in it.)

She begrudgingly agreed but wrote me a private email today arguing that the AP is not a reputable source (weird take from someone who wants to get their stuff in a newspaper) and referenced that 40% of Americans think the 2020 election was stolen (I didn't bother to look up how true that is but whatever).

I simply wrote back that just because a large number of people believe something that is categorically false does not mean we are going to be in the business of promoting it. I'm curious to see what happens here.

NYT Times had an article on the NYPDs increasing police presence in the subway and didn't quote a single source other than the mayor or the NYPD.

I don't know Cenk very well, and I also don't know LA politics very well. Either way, whatever.
