The problem is that generally that ISN'T a Democratic platform.

I mean, its cnn so take it for what its worth, but it does appear to be something they are focusing on:

It's a hell of a country and hell of an electoral system in that the message one party gets when the public is against a policy is that they need to make it so fewer people can vote. And the other party basically shrugs and throws up their hands with a "what are you going to do" look on their face. BTW, the other party holds two of the three branches of government.

I dont think you can alienate 50% of the population by taking rights away without paying a political price. In the last week I've heard

"its a mans world.." from a [expletive] dude talking about his female coworker
"..this is what it looks like when the white, male hierarchy is being tore down" from a female friend
"..it doesnt matter what religion tells me, its the rules that are forced on me" from a "moderate" female friend
"..men always have to have control.....and Ive had enough" from a female relative

its purely anecdotal, but these are not particularly political people in any way, in fact I never discuss politics with them. On one hand, there are "white dudes" celebrating, but on the other hand I dont think you can under-estimate the reaction many many women in America are going to have and still stay in power. I think the RvW reversal was a blunder on the Republicans side, and Jan 6 is only going to amplify that angst

We can’t overestimate how these terrible candidates like Herschel Walker are playing into the message that the Right is full blown looney tunes. Candidates still matter, and they’re trotting out some crazies.

Yep. Not at all equivocating here, but the Right managed to make AOC a main face of the Democratic party very quickly. The Left should be doing everything that can to give their nutjobs a microphone to shoot themselves in their own foot with. Make the party break from them.

Ummm yes. Remove Nader from 2000 and Stein from 2016 and those awful presidencies don't happen. I'm not exactly sure how that would even be debatable. Gore "lost" by 500 votes in Florida. Nader had 97,500 votes. If you think more of those folks would have voted for Bush than Gore I've got a bridge to sell you.

Hillary lost PA, WI, and MI by 77,744 combined votes. Stein got 132,476 votes in those states. Also no telling how many Bernie bros sat at home stewing in those states.

Voters for Nader and Stein and Sanders (voters who loved him who stayed home) all skewed to the left of Gore and Hillary. That's not Lang, he skews to the center. My guess is he fails because he simply doesn't pull enough Republican support, who step in line and goose step the way they do every election for Trump/DeSantis/whomever

That being said, horsefeathers Lang. enjoy political oblivion

He may skew to the right of whoever the Dem nominee is, but thats still going to be left of thr American political compass. He's not getting significant right action. Absolute best case is he's getting never Trumpers, half who might have stayed home and half who would begrudgingly vote for Dem but now would have an out.

Do you consider Yang to be to the left or to the right of Biden?

I mean on his signature issue, he's maybe leftist IF the caveats all come back clear, but he is a mixed bag on the whole probably. On the voter appeal spectrum though, he totally hits more that centrist sweet spot IMO.

Seriously... how the hell is this not getting more attention? The Republican defense to horsefeathering over veterans is paper thin. This is such an easy set up for a dunk on the GOP for doing exactly the kind of [expletive] they get away with constantly. Jon Stewart already did half of the work by himself.

Starting to hear this more and more. Republicans don’t care about you, only about more money and power. Keep hammering that message.

Its because Dems suck at making real simple memes that dolts can froth over

On this subject I often rant to anyone who wants to hear that I give money to Wounded Warriors but it really pisses me off that they even have to exist. We chose to send these soldiers wherever for our own selfish reasons and nothing to do with fighting for freedom. Yet we dont want to do whatever it takes to make sure that they are taken care of when they come home.....it really gets under my skin. It also makes me say the next time you want to volunteer our soldiers to fight for your low gas prices you better think twice about it, unless you are willing to pay the whole price for their sacrifice. IF not quit hiding behind some sort of fake patriotism and start supporting those who question why we are sending the soldiers in the first place

They’re trying to block it because they’re petty. They didn’t like something the Dems did so this is “punishment” (i.e. not giving them an easy “win”).

Overwhelming percentage of vets will still vote R

I think you’re correct, but you gotta keep trying to chip away at those margins with things like this. Montana has a Dem Senator. Georgia has two. Rom Johnson is in a tight race. Keep hammering this message home and make some inroads with that group.

Anecdotal AF: on my way to my hunting property this morning driving through very rural central Alabama I saw about 5 or 6 of the Jesus 2022 signs defaced by spray paint saying Jesus IS PRO CHOICE 2022. Most won’t appreciate the subversivenss of this act.

I'm right in the middle of part conservative Catholic, part super liberal country. That sort of thing is happening here a lot.
