I'm in Boston for a conference and took in my first game at Fenway. It's amazing how similar the experience was to Wrigley. It's a little more intimate than Wrigley, but not as good sightlines. I had a lot of fun.

White Sox DFA Keuchel.

If I read it correctly, they eat his $18.5 million for the remainder of the season unless they swing a trade or he's claimed. But it saves them to $20 million for next season since I don't believe he's vested.

Well, this is good news for the Cubs because I don't think they would win a bidding war for him at the trade deadline this year. Mike Rizzo is in the last year of his contract so I wonder if this decision will be decided by the next GM/President, like the Mookie Betts situation when Chaim Bloom took over in Boston.

Rockies have allowed 41 runs over the last 3 games.

They actually won one of those games (13-12)

Them giving up on Gabe Kapler after 2 seasons of squeezing out a .500 record from a pretty bad roster looks increasingly dumb as the days go by.

They didn't like Kapler because he did things based on data they didn't understand.

What's hilarious is that some talking head on MLB Network last night was asked if Girardi was on the hot seat and he was like "naaaahhhh"

Apparently a position player cannot come in to pitch unless his team is down by 6+ runs. The Dodgers were just denied. Seems like CB Bucknor was the only one in the stadium aware of the rule.

I get that a 5 run comeback in 1 inning is very unlikely but Roberts just wanting to completely punt on the chance of that happening is hilarious.

Plus, they have an off day on Monday! You can't survive another day? And it's not like their pen is depleted either. They used 5 total relievers on Thu and Fri. I know Buehler only went 2 1/3 so that kind of puts you in a bind in this specific game but that happens all the time in baseball and in a lot of those instances, the game doesn't end with a position player pitching.

If a team/manager really wanted to just punt a game like the Dodgers last night with this rule, what would stop them from leaving a pitcher in put intentionally walking 4 straight guys to go down 6 and then bring in the position player to pitch?

This is going to shock everyone, but all 5 players were white.

Because black and latino players aren’t also virulently homophobic?

Yeah that was a weird little factoid to bring up about homophobia in baseball.

It was the coordinated statement with one player speaking for the group that made me think they were all white.

Obviously white people aren’t the only homophobes out there.

So, 3.4 fWAR and 3.0 bWAR for Aaron Judge right now. He definitely made the right call to turn down the Yankees' offer and he's going to break $300M this offseason if he keeps this up. Not sure which team will sign him though to that mega-contract... I don't think it'll be the Cubs. I think we're gonna target Correa, Turner or Bogaerts.
