Can't really complain about patience when he does that.

Another fun fact: All seven pitches Strasburg threw were fastballs.

ESPN gamecast is working, so I'll stay there for this one.

FYI...CBS Sports Gamecast is the best. It features sound effects for strikeouts, runs and HR's. You can walk away from the PC and still know when something happens. ;)

Yes you can, patience isn't just about taking balls. It's about running up the opposing pitchers' pitch count. Getting yourself out in a hurry against a guy who had TJS not too long ago and is probably going to be monitored for workloads just isn't a great idea.

Patience is also about hitting the hittable pitches, and the Cubs did that. It makes no sense to watch a hittable fastball go by for a strike just in the name of taking pitches.

Taking away Soriano, the three other Cubs hitters have hit the ball a combined 13 feet.

I agree to an extent but if you fall behind 0-2, 1-2 to a guy like Strasburg your going to strike out and give up precious outs. If you swing at strikes you could get a hit.

When you get sawed off you aren't swinging at hittable pitches. Barney and Castro both got sawed off.

Well, so much for the record Strasburg. Pitch count is looking good though.

Every strike is technically hittable, but they aren't all smart to swing at.

Barney, at the very least, swung at bad pitch.

First time Strasburg throws something other than a fastball, and Byrd is the first Cub to swing and miss a pitch for a strikeout.

By far the best thing about opening day is the aces are on the mound...Lots of zeroes around the league.

Was Strasb even trying on that breaking ball? Filf.

ESPN gamecast: 4 commercial breaks, 3 Cubs Win commercials. Ugh.

Seconded. I'll take good pitching every time.

Swear that breaking ball was a 3 on the 1-10 scale for Strasburg.

If Stewart is going to do that he may be useless to us.

Not a good idea to do that during National Small Sample Overreaction Week, Ian.
