Ramos scratched from his AAA start. Always liked him as a catching prospect, and if we had paid Capps it'd be a nice return for the Cubs. as it is, good job by Washington

Just disgusting. I know the Twins have Mauer, but they shouldn't be trading Ramos for a relief pitcher.

[expletive] that, Id offer them Lilly for Ramos. The Twins could shure as hell use a starter, and Lilly could probably be convinced to waive the NTC.

Outrageous return for Capps!

I hope we can bend over the Dodgers!

Twins Acquire Matt Capps For Wilson Ramos
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 29 at 9:10pm CST]
9:10pm: The Twins acquired Capps for Ramos, according to Miller. The deal is done and will be announced tonight or tomorrow.

Apparently, its a done deal. Thats just a bad, bad trade on the part of the Twins.

This is hillarious. Ramos was like the main chip in the Cliff Lee deal for the Twins. This is funny.

i guess the real question becomes, would you deal a guy like sean marshall for wilson ramos? the relief market is shallow at best, and marshall is dominant this season. being cheap and under team control through 2012 could net a nice return...

I applaud the Nats for selling extremely high on Capps. Well played. Well played indeed. I suppose now they can move either Ramos or Norris to 1B while the other is catcher and Harper will come up playing RF? That's gonna be a nice offense a few years from now once it's all settled in.

Rotoworld's take:

Quote:
Twins acquired RHP Matt Capps from the Nationals for catcher Wilson Ramos and LHP Joe Testa.
What in the world did Twin GM Bill Smith just do? Ramos has struggled at the Triple-A level this season and has no future with the Joe Mauer-led Twins, but to deal a top catching prospect for a middle relief rental seems misguided. Nonetheless, Capps is headed north and should add a touch of consistency to the Twins' bullpen. He converted 26 of 30 save opportunities for the Nats and could get a shot at closing if Jon Rauch's struggles continue into August.

Nationals acquired catcher Wilson Ramos and LHP Joe Testa from the Twins for RHP Matt Capps.
Ramos, 22, was excellent in limited action for the Twins back in May while Joe Mauer nursed an injury and he has a strong reputation defensively. His offensive numbers this year at Triple-A Rochester haven't been overly impressive, but he has major upside and should develop into a solid backstop alongside a strong group of young pitchers in Washington.

Nationals acquired LHP Joe Testa and catcher Wilson Ramos from the Twins for RHP Matt Capps.
The left-handed Testa posted an excellent 1.96 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 82 2/3 innings between two different Single-A levels last season. He struggled when promoted to Double-A this year, but the fact that the Nationals landed both Ramos and a decent-looking throw-in for Capps is quite astonishing.

In value, the Twins overpaid it seems, but the Nats already have a very solid catching prospect in Norris, who's going to be ready next year anyway.

He hasn't reached AA yet, and while his plate patience is still there, his bat seems to have completely disappeared. Norris might not be ready until after next year unless this season has been flukish. If he does play next year it looks like it will be mid season at the earliest

Didn't he have a broken hand or something to start the year?
