What is the report on Frank Batista? He seems to have rather good numbers and is still young.

Nice start by Cabrera.

Tell me about Frank Batista.

The only thing I know is that he was the DSL Cubs' top pitcher last year. A good question to pose to Nathan.

Review of Boise Hawks' first half: http://www.idahostatesman.com/2010/07/2 ... hawks.html

Top hitter: OFAlvaro Ramirez
Top pitcher: Juan Serrano (lol...because of his 4-0 record), then Austin Kirk
Top fielder: CF Kyung-Min Na
Unsung hero: Pierre LePage

According to the box score, Brett Jackson weasnt 0-0 and played LF, and Guyer is also in LF going 1-4. Did Brett come in late as a defensive sub, or did he leave the gsme before he had an AB for some reason?

Thomas Diamond only pitched 4 innings yesterday, which made me think about him possibly being promoted. I researched it a little and found this from Bruce Miles this evening:

Pitch count to keep him fresh to take Lilly's spot?

This makes me want to move Lilly even more. As much as I like Lilly, much like the playoffs, hes not in the Cubs future plans, and its time to give someone an auditon.

In case you needed additional confirmation, the I-Cubs web site also said it was a limited pitch count and not an injury.

Brent Ebinger went 5 scoreless, gave up 2 hits, struck out 7 and walked no one.

Down in Arizona, rehabbing Justin Bristow threw a scoreless and hitless inning and struck out 2. Hunter Ackerman followed Bristow and didn't suck for once.

With their 12th win in a row tonight, Daytona's been the hottest team in baseball over the past two weeks.

Jackson came on as a defensive substitution for Matthew Spencer in the 8th inning. He didn't get a PA.

Everything has come together. The pitching has been dominant, and the offense has literally been red hot. The South division's top team comes to town tonight for a four game series. Should be good!
